Meet The Golf Team
Gavin, son of long-standing club professional Len Beck grew up on the fairways of Redland Bay Golf Club. He was a Junior member of the club until the age of 17 when he moved away to travel the world. Having lived in the Whitsundays, Channel Islands, Scotland and Canada, Gavin returned home and applied for a PGA Traineeship under the watchful eye of his Father Len. Gavin won an event on the Qld Sunshine Tour as a trainee yet upon completion of his traineeship didn’t chase the dream of making it on tour, instead taking a job offer as a Golf Operations Manager in Fiji. Upon returning to Australia, Gavin played events on the Qld Sunshine tour and Australian Tour before returning to Redland Bay to work with his father Len and brother Shannon. In 2019, Gavin accepted the role as Golf Operations Manager at the Club. Other interests include Family, Surfing and Snowboarding.
Favourite Hole at RBGC: 14th “It’s the hole that visitors remember at Redland Bay and that’s what makes it my favourite.” Gavin believes that it is one the best par 5’s in Queensland, especially if you have to play it with northly winds and with a king tide.
Golfing Highlight: Travelling to watch The Open in 2000 at St Andrews with my brother and parents. Also, watching a good friend win the 2016 UBS Hong Kong Open and securing a life changing European Tour Card.
Paul grew up playing golf at the Jindalee Golf Club in Brisbane where he went on to start a PGA traineeship in 2009. Moving to Indooroopilly Golf Club in 2011 to finish the traineeship, Paul graduated having won QLD PGA Trainee of year in 2010 and 2011, and Australian PGA Trainee of the year in 2011. He then continued on at Indooroopilly in a member services role whilst pursuing a playing career in Australia. Notching up 9 wins on the “Troppo Tour”, Paul moved to Redland Bay in October of 2020 before starting with us in the Assistant Professional Role in December 2020.
Favourite Hole at RBGC: 9th. A decision to be made after the drive as to whether to make the aggressive play and go for the green to set up an easy birdie or play it safe. Playing the 9th hole well can set you up for a good back nine and a great score!
Golfing Highlight: Having 13 Hole-in-ones, Shooting 9 under for my first pro-am win at Tieri Golf Club in 2013 and travelling all over Australia playing tournaments on some of our best golf courses
